Well, it's been a crazy few weeks, but I finally have a definitive answer as to what was going on with my bod.
It seems that it was a rare (like in, really rare, as of 2004 there had been a total of 71 cases in the English-Speaking-Medial-World, paging Dr. House kind of rare) type of ovarian tumor called a Wolffian adnexal tumor. Because most gyn-oncologists won't see more than one of these in their career, there's not a lot known about them. They seemed pretty excited about it - I may well wind up as a case study or something.
The good news is, while these tumors *can* spread past the ovary they start out on, they generally don't. (Again, they're rare enough that their behavior patterns aren't horribly well documented, but recurrences seem to be very unusual..) The recommended treatment is surgical removal of the tumor, ovary, and Fallopian tube, followed by regular examinations to ensure that it isn't recurring. Of course, that removal has already happened.
So. I'll be fine, it seems. Unless things go drastically bad in an incredibly unlikely way, I will not need radiation, chemo, or any further surgery.
Thank you all for your concern, prayers, and good thoughts. I'm very lucky to have friends who care about me so deeply. Hopefully now Nicolas and I can take a deep breath and let our lives settle down to normal again...or as normal as we get, anyway!
Yay!
