Band Camp Day 1

Aug 21, 2006 16:44

So, band camp started today and it was exciting, to say the least...even though the band camp day isn't finished yet. I'm on my fun-filled two hour lunch break. Here's a little break down of my feeling's of it so far...

1). Some freshmen are really good at catching on with the concepts of left foot versus right foot...others are just plain lost and I don't even think they know what a foot is...
2). Upperclassmen who don't know what they're doing shouldn't be helping out younger peoples and screwing them up even more...it just shouldn't happen...
3). Upperclassmen also need to get more aquainted with the underclassmen...particularly the freshmen. I say this because the freshmen are all hanging out with each other because they feel so overwhelmed and intimidated with what's going on, and no upperclassmen take the time to say "Hi, my name is ___." So, I made about 6 new freshmen friends...Yea me!!!
4). I was really excited when hearing the band play In the Midnight Hour because it sounded freakin' FANTASTIC!!!!! But, then they played Tracks of My Tears and I think I felt a tear fall...and it wasn't the happy kind...
5). For some reason, when I stand on the top of the ladder and conduct peoples, I feel much more confident with what my conducting. Maybe I'm just psychotic, but aren't you supposed to feel MORE pressured when in front of the WHOLE band? I guess I just love the attention...
6). The sun is so hot outside and my blue sunglasses broke...crap...

That's all I really feel like typing out right now...hopefully, band camp gets funnerer, but I know I'll continue with my energy and enthusiasm because right now, the band seems like their dying...badly...
