Visiting Granville.
I really hope this gas thing gets a little more in control before we go to see Gran on Parris Island, SC for his graduation ceremony. Otherwise making this trip will be impossible.
I am starting to organize the whole trip slowly. I have all of the directions that we will need, including those we won't need... but that I have just in case. I also got some information on the graduation through the Parris Island Marine Deopt website.
YOU MUST HAVE A BASE PASS. To get this is like how you will get a base pass on any other base. You will need to present a valid driver's license, vehicle registration, and proof of automobile insurance.
"The Marine Corps Emblem Ceremony for graduating companies will be held Thursday at 1 p.m., immediately prior to Family Day liberty. The Colors Ceremony will begin Friday at 7:45 p.m. and the graduation ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. Guests attending these events will be permitted about the depot after 8 a.m. on Thursday and 7 a.m. on Friday. There is no limit to the number of guests a graduating Marine can have here."

SITE:
http://www.mcrdpi.usmc.mil/ I need to touch base with some people to see what the deal is. I am kinda excited. I really didn't get to go on any significant trips other than Kings Dominion this summer and this will be a good experience. At least I hope it will. I will try my best to make things run as smooth and fine as they can.
Basically the plan is this, we shoudl leave a few days early. The trip from VA to Parris Island is 8 hours, but I figure we can make it in small incriments on the way TO the place, and then the day of graduation drive the entire trip back to be home in the evening.
Step 1. Tuesday - Wednesday. Drive from NN, VA to Whiteville, NC (where my grandparents live) and stay there overnight. The next day we can visit the sights around there, including Myrtle Beach and the crystal lake.
Step 2. Thursday. Drive from Whiteville, NC to Parris Island (or more specifically Port Royal, SC where the hotel would be) and check in that night. Relax.
Step 3. Friday. Wake up early, check out of the hotel and to go to Parris Island and check in at the depot. See the graduation at 9:00 a.m. Visit Gran and hang out, then leave sometime before 1:00. An eight hour trip will bring us home around 9-10 p.m.
Of course, this isn't definite in any stretch of the imagination. Just an idea of what we should do. I am going to obviously have to clear it all with family and Rick. ^___^' Heh. Planning things... I should take this up as a job.
Welp, gtg. Get ready for work... and shower. Damn, am I smelly.
