Hm.
Sorry I haven't updated much lately (or with anything of interest). I've been busy either running around town with peoples or working on music. I don't know what happened but after a, what, four month dry spell? I've been on a kick lately. Lyrics, music, you name it... mostly music. Like, I get up in the morning and I just open up Finale and start writing. I'm just kind of gonna ramble so I'll cut.
I'm almost finished with this one damn song that's been plaguing me for a while... I was really worried about it because I thought it was:
A. Too Long.
B. Went from having a rigid structure to having literally no structure.
But as I've been writing it, I realize it does have maintain structure (and it'll end up being between four and five minutes long. On the long side, but not nearly as long as I thought it was going to be). A sort of conversational structure with the first part in terms of rhythm and release. The funny thing about this song is that it releases and then sort of heads to the tension, and then heads back to the first part. Like it goes a step too far so it retreats all the way back to the beginning (lyric wise and music wise). It's neat.
I'm excited to finish it.
