Hey, guys!
I've decided to share one of my latest obsessions.
The Future!
This has been brought on from several fronts. First, I've been a technophile since I played Gorillas for the first time using DosShell on a 386. I try to stay updated on newly developed forms of technology, but the field grows so quickly that I keep finding myself lost in the current of consumerism. Developing technologies, on the other hand, have proved to be more manageable due to the fact that they're still developing. This can be both good and bad in that it is our very nature to dream about sheer possibilities and opportunities that could be presented by the greatest of these technologies and neglect to give the dangers and consequences they may also imply an equal amount of consideration. I am guilty of the same, but it is a lot more fun that way. =)
I've also recently met and befriended the new ALT (Assistant Language Teacher) in Gosen, who goes by the nickname Addy, and we both share many of the same interests. He also happened to know of quite a few resources that I was not previously aware of and referenced them to me, and my imagination took things from there. One of the websites that I feel I've gained the most benefit from is called
TED. I've found this particular website inspirational on several fronts as it covers topics ranging from the newest and hottest technologies to population concerns to the importance of art and beauty. I won't overwhelm you all with a bunch of links or anything like that, but, to those of you who share an interest in the same subjects, I would recommend video series such as 2057 (a 3 part series with segments entitled The Body, The City, and The World), TechnoCalyps (another 3 part documentary) both hosted on Google video, and many of the TED Talks focused on biotech and emerging technologies specifically. TechnoCalyps especially seems to reach a bit far sometimes, but it presents many topics that are a lot of fun to play with.
Announcements:
Being married rocks! She's the most wonderful woman I've ever met, and I thank God every day that she's by my side.
Also, I moved to apartment 407 in the same building. I can post the full address again if anyone wants.
