The cat's not part of it. It's the ox who was upset that the rat rode on his back. Or at least as my mother told it.

Oh! That certainly puts a everything in a different light.

It still makes the rat seem very cunning, just less mean, I suppose.

[Tohru momentarily imagines the rat as Yuki. He does seem the type who could be very cunning--Quickly shaking that image away ^^a;]

It does. But there's always an animal that the rat takes advantage of...

Still not very nice, though, is it? It's a strange tale when you think about it.

It is! I asked my mother what was the moral of the story.

... I didn't get a straight answer.

It doesn't seem as though there's a moral. Though like some great poetry, maybe it's just a tale. Not meant to have a moral.

I wouldn't know for sure, I skipped a lot of my poetry lessons...

Well, I was supposed to, but I tended to be out riding my horse when I should have been in studying.
