"Dear Members of the WLP Community,
It is with deep sadness that I inform you of the death of our colleague and friend, Sarah Hannah. As a Part-Time faculty member in the Department of Writing, Literature, and Publishing, Sarah taught graduate and undergraduate poetry workshops and the occasional literature course. She was an excellent teacher, greatly admired by her students for her dedication, generosity, and intelligence. Sarah received her doctorate as well as her MFA in Poetry from Columbia University, and was the author of two collections of poems, Longing Distance (Tupelo Press 2004) and Inflorescence (forthcoming from Tupelo Press in Fall 2007). Flowers and expressions of sympathy may be sent to her family at the following address: Nathan and Harriet Goldstein, 17 Metropolitan Avenue, Ashland, MA 01721. There will be a memorial service at the family home on Thursday, May 31st, at 1:00 pm. Members of the Emerson community are welcome.
Yours,
Daniel Tobin, WLP Chair"
Dear Chairman Tobin,
As someone who was one of her students, I am saddened. But I am angry that despite being one of her students, I was not informed of this at all directly (I had to find this out through someone else). Further, there is evidence that you are withholding the fact that she committed suicide. Why are you withholding this? Talk, you son of a bitch.
Yours,
Sean
