Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated ~

"So long, Perry! Or, as they say in Mexico, das vadanya! (That's two 'vadanyas'!)"

I woke up this morning feeling awful -- major headache, low-grade fever, upset stomach, the works -- so after dragging myself through the shower, I decided to spend the day curled up under a blanket on the futon, indulging in my own Phineas & Ferb marathon via Netflix. (Am I a little old to be spending an entire day watching Phineas & Ferb? Yes, yes I am. But I don't care, I love that show. ♥ )

I hadn't realized just how many episodes I hadn't already seen; I was in Japan when the show aired its first season, and I've spent last summer and this summer -- Seasons Two and Three -- without cable. The only time I ever catch the show is when I'm at my parents' house (my Mom loves it, and the kids she babysits always have the Disney channel on.) Out of the entire first season, I think there were only three episodes total which were re-runs for me. Awesome.

... But is it weird that I kind of want to write a story about the cast during their high school years? I mean, yes, it's a show about two boy geniuses and their summer vacation hijinks. But there's a lot of potential adult (by which I mean 'older,' not X-rated XD ) content there, too, and not just in the humor. Has anyone else, for instance, wondered what happened to Phineas and Candace's father? Or Ferb's mother? Or why neither of their parents seem to work ever? (I feel like their mother owns an antique store in later episodes, but I can't actually remember why I think that. I haven't made it all the way through Season One on Netflix yet.)

And what happens when the boys find themselves trapped in a horrifically dull and un-challenging public high school environment? Or when Ferb is actually old enough to make a move for Vanessa, and potentially goes through a darker Goth phase as a result? Or when Phineas and Isabella start dating -- I mean, what kind of complex would it give a girl to actually be Phineas' girlfriend? Or what happens when the boys' unbreakable childhood friendship starts shifting towards competition with one another? Or when Valjeet and Buford realize that they're meant to be life-partners in a very unconventional (and somewhat S&M prone) relationship? (Which will only be antagonized when Valjeet gets into Yale and Buford is stuck back in Danville working at the local gas station?) What if that kid who obsesses over Phineas and Ferb (I can't think of his name at the moment ...) actually starts stalking them in a more-than-slightly creepy way?

Not that everything has to be all dark and angsty, obviously, but there's all sorts of plot-interesting conflict in their future. And I sort of want to write about it.

Then again, maybe it's the low-grade fever talking. XD

At any rate, my favorite episode is still "Phineas and Ferb Get Busted," and I think my favorite moment is when Perry is thwarting one of Doofenshmirtz's schemes and he realizes that the doctor's latest -inator is endangering Phineas and Ferb (Doctor D invented a gun to eliminate all people who couldn't make up their minds, and the boys were having trouble deciding what to do that day) and he actually beats Doofenshmirtz up for once.

Right. Back to my sick-day marathon.

fic, phineas and ferb, why i shouldn't post when sick
