Anime Expo 2010 Report

Alright now it's been couple days now I'm gonna say the good and bads for me.

Goods:

Registration Line:
I can't believe picking up my badge on day 1 went very fast for me. Only took me like an hour compare to day zero I keep hearing about and my time from last year's AX.

Vocaloid Gathering Day 1:
I was bit worried about if I'm gonna feel ackward or left out of place at Fanime. I'm glad I actually did show up. Most of people there actually recognize my character when I asked them guess who's my character is. They may not got the whole name but that's good enough when they know the character as the teacher and I was very happy they actually do. I told them my sad story from the Vocaloid gathering that I felt out of place and some of the people I told them to gave me a nice welcoming hug. It was very awesome to be part of the photoshoot under the other Vocaloid character group. And it was nice to meet new people and friends there that I would love to show up more often at the Vocaloid Gathering.

Masquerade Ball Gathering Friday:
I was very happy to meet with Marc who helped provide fliers and songs for our gathering that we handed them out around the con. So far we had around 8-10 people show up and we did few dance session. I got to dance with a wonderful girl who actually was a competitive ballroom dancer that I had so much fun dancing with her. So it was pretty fun even though I expected more.

Last Comic Standing was such an awesome alternative from going to the Masquerade since we had to pay 20 dolalrs for the ticket which is ridiculous. But it was worth going there which gave me a good laugh! Great job on G for performing again! I have never laughed this hard in such a long time at a event that I'm glad I showed up!

Arcade:
Arcade Infinity hosting the arcade for AX really blew my mind! I got to play Beatmania IIDX Sirious when it barely opened. First we were told there wasn't gonna be an arcade and then couple days before we have Arcade Infinity handling it! What a surprise! Sadly to say they have the best selection of arcades. Yeah I only play few games on the first day but that's pretty much it since I was focused on something else.

Nokia Plaza:
It's nice to look around the area since last year it was off limits because of Michael Jackson's funeral. I was really blown how the concert was set and I saw an actual friend I know was hosting the performance of a DJ under Red Alice perform. I really liked how the set was set up and it made me jealous that it just looks too good to wander around and was reserved the area people like us fan people. I feel safe wearing my Brain Age cosplay out there!

Dance:
I was bit iffy about the dance from what I saw last year. It was held at a Nokia Club at the Nokia Plaza area. When I got in, it REALLY BLEW MY MIND!! I have never imagined I got to see and listen to DJ Chucky perform and I have never heard of a dance that played hardcore genre such as gabber and speedcore! I really got into it and I really had fun busting out! It's probably the best dance I have attended at an anime convention and it made me helluv a jealous they went pretty off on this one! Plus they have a fuckin bar!!

Cosplay:
Still amazing as usual. I took around more than 400 pics. I was very happy to able to give a nice dance to many nice cosplayer such as Tiana cosplayer, Anastacia cosplayer, and Queen of Hearts cosplayer. It all made me forget about the failure that the Masquerade Ball gathering that I hoped would of made the day. I walked around in my Brain Age Express: Sudoku cosplay around Nokia Plaza and outside it went pretty fine. Then I dared myself to where my Brain Age cosplay around South Hall area since I've been seeing people wit so called "sign" and kept on doing it until I been stopped and warned but surprisely enough, no one stopped me... Cosplay went strong and it was just crazy like last year and I'm glad people still remembered me and I got nice chat with other cosplayers which made me have alots of fun.

Free Food Room Party:
I found a friend that I met from city college Sarah and I was happy to see her again. She invited me to check out the free food party that was held at JW Marriot hotel. I also ran into some other people on the way. I got to meet other people in the room and introduced myself and others. I had some great amount of food in the room and I talked with other people. Then all the sudden I was watching a clip from Banzai with Mr Shakeman and I was just joked around that the clip looks sick at one point that Sarah pointed out that he's in the same room wit us. And I look and my eyes were wide open that I got to meet Tadao Tomamatsu in the same room! Then I watched other clips where he starred in such as from Heroes and Diagnosis Murder. It was an honor to meet him in the same room while we talk and have our food.

Bad:

Con Op Manager:
Con op Manager was a douche when I met him and he didn't even talk to Joyce at all about the sign policy and her message. Very terrible communication between the con and SJPA from what I heard forums and such. I wish I can report this to the SJPA about his attitude and failure to get in contact about it because I WANT TO KNOW! I met the guy who used to been staff for AX and started the sign policy and he called him an idiot and view my Brain Age sign I was wearing as a cosplay not a sign.

Masquerade Ball gathering on Saturday:
It was a failure that me and my friend Marc who helped provide speakers and song decided to cancel it on the first half and hour.

Midnight:
What else to do 24 hours? Nothing really since everything is closed at midnight. Just only the dance is all I can come think of but that one ends around 2am or 1am depending on the day.

Overall:
I was bit worried about it but this year I really enjoyed it. I think it's because I was more cautious and I decided to not volunteer. I got to make many new friends and glad people still remembered me. I found stuff to check out such as the Dance and Last Comic Standing. I guess it all depends on how I set up my time that I got to see the reason why I enjoy AX myself even though the budget cut was taking affect such as sacrificing the Masquerade ball. Next year I will have more stuff to do among other cosplayers and people that we will have a good time such as getting a boombox or portable speakers to play from my ipod. Even though I didn't get to drink at all at least i got to check out a room party that offered food and I got to meet people. I had alots of fun better than last year but this time if I do again I'm gonna get more prepared and have alots of stuff to offer for the con.
