Global what? Cap and who?

As some may know (or may not), the House of Representatives just passed the Waxman-Markey Bill on Global Warming (or is it Global Cooling...no...Climate Change), or as the Republicans call it, the Cap and Tax Bill. The final amount of paperwork for this Bill was over 1000 pages, this includes a 300 page amendment that was added late last night (and not delivered to most of the Representatives until today).

Now, when I was a kid, we had Global Cooling...the world was going into an Ice Age...then, in the 80's, it was changed to Global Warming...we were all going to live in a desert...then, in the 2000's, I was told the Debate is over. Oddly enough, some of the scientists and "experts" that said we needed to pollute our atmosphere or else we'd be under a LOT of ice, were the same ones that 10 years later said we need to pollute our atmosphere or else we'd live in a desert. But I digress.

The vote was close, 219 for, 212 against. My question is this. How many of the 431 members of the House of Representatives actually read the Bill? And I'm not joking, either. How many knew exactly what was being signed into Law? Will the President adhere to his promise of transparency and post the over 1000 page Bill five days before he signs it? Or, like the Omnibus Spending Bill, the Credit Card Legislation or the "Stimulus" Bill, will he sign it before the People have a chance of knowing EXACTLY what we're getting in to?

Of the 219 Representatives who voted for this, how many of them had read this Bill? How many read the over 300 page admendment to the Bill? And more importantly, how many of them can HONESTLY tell their constituents what they voted for in PLAIN ENGLISH, without using Political Talking Points? Seriously, if it were about capping Carbon Emissions and converting to "Green" Energy, why so much space? Why the need to add 300 more pages? What's contained in that amendment?

What of the cost to the People? Do we believe the Republicans that this is a "Cap and Tax" Bill? I don't trust the Republicans anymore than I trust the Democrats anymore, but even the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has stated this will cause Consumer Energy Costs to increase. Let's be honest, 92.4% of all statistics are made up on the spot. But there is the Logic of, "Business Costs go up, cost of Product goes up." If companies are going to have to pay more to Cap their Emissions or buy Carbon Credits, they're going to pass that onto the Consumer. At least, that's how I see it (I'm not an Economist, but I am a Thinker). This happens with EVERY product out there, the Food we eat, the Water we drink, the Cars we drive...even the Clothes we wear. When the Cost to bring those to us increase (whether to a new Tax, a higher cost of Materials or even a higher Minimum Wage), that Cost is always passed onto the Consumer. Any Business Major will tell you that any Companies JOB is to make Profit. But I digress again.

219 to 212. That's a lot closer than the Democrats would have wanted it. I hope that the Senate has time to actually read this and understand this.

Where are the Politicians that are going to put Principles above Politics? And if people didn't know, I mean Politicians like Henry Waxman, who co-sponsored the Bill, actually caught on tape admitting he doesn't know what's in HIS OWN BILL!

Is anybody else upset about this? Are we going to be able to do anything to stop this kind of Political Chicanery in the future?
