Statistics is a mathematical science pertaining to the collection, analysis, interpretation, and presentation of data. It is applicable to a wide variety of academic disciplines, from the physical and social sciences to the humanities; it is also used for making informed decisions in all areas of business and government.
So much data and information in the world, and with the internet, so many people can now have access to it. Yet the average American is oblivious to how the world is changing.
We need to "see" how the world is changing. Visual imagery can tell stories and truths which would be very hard to capture and communicate.
Hans Rosling is a Professor of International Health, Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden since 1998. He uses beautiful animated charts and minimalistic diagrams to explain the world we live in. Poverty, money and health can be seen at once shaping or being shaped by world events, technology and the passing of time.
