And so its been finally decided, we will do visiting rounds to friends' places on Thanksgiving Day itself -- oddly enough all of our parents are not planning anything for the holidays!! Both my mother & brother are now touring the Holy Land and Egypt. It suddenly dawned on us that we haven't gotten any word from Sigfried's parent sets. Strange but true!
On Friday, I have decided that we will have a small Thanksgiving dinner for ourselves. This will be my experiment on "cooking small and simple."
Trent Thanksgiving - "Just the Two of Us"
Simple Spice Roast Turkey
Brined in a medley of peppercorns, allspice berries, and candied gingers
Then roasted with sage, rosemary, apples, sweet onions, and cinnamon
Simple Country Stuffing
A traditional mix of country bread, rice, sausage, carrots, celery, herbs, and spices
Sweet Yams
Served in a sauce of bourbon and brown sugar
Cranberry Jicama Citrus Slaw
Slow cooked cranberries in a mulled wine mix, then chilled and served with jicama
Pumpkin Pie with Crunchy Cranberry Toping
Traditional pumpkin pie with a crunchy topping made of cranberries and crushed amaretto cookies
Homemade Eggnog Ice Cream
