#706 SMRT: HAPPY 45th BIRTHDAY SINGAPORE!

Aug 08, 2010 19:11

No tickets were allocated to the family via e-Balloting.
No tickets were won from all the contests participated.
Tickets aside, it was also hard to get our hands on the Goodie bags.

This is where SMRT comes in.

No YOG badge (that is inside the NDP Goodie Bags), but we have NDP collar pins!
Let me point out the similarities.
Both are free; limited edition (there's only 15 000 collar pins!); and related to NDP.

At the stations, there are signs that point you to the location.

Area next to Esplanade Xchange. Taken on 5 Aug.

Permanent markers, together with heart-shaped, colored (orange, green and yellow) stickers are placed on the desk. Stick it on the white area once you are done with the writing.

SMRT staff at the desk will give you 2 leaflets and the collar pins after you have written down your birthday wishes for Singapore on the stickers.

Area next to the ticketing counter at Paya Lebar Circle Line MRT Station. Taken on 6 Aug.

Unlike the one in Esplanade, there will be a new blackboard at Paya Lebar everyday due to the limited space for the stickers.

Paya Lebar. Taken on 7 Aug.

There is a message that comes along with every collar pin given to commuters:

The National Flag
The National Flag was unveiled in 1959 together with the State Crest and the National Anthem when Singapore attained self-government.

Flag elements and significance:
The colour red symbolises universal brotherhood and equality of man;
white signifies pervading and everlasting purity and virtue;
the crescent moon represents a young nation on the ascendant;
and the five stars stand for the nation's ideals of democracy, peace, progress, justice and equality.

As of today, I have collected a total of 11 badges.
However, I only have 1 complete set of all 5 badges.

"While stock lasts" cannot be applied here because there is too much left!
They started giving each person 2 pins on Saturday.

Shown in the sequence of collection.

P.S. If I am not wrong, there's still time to wish Singapore Happy Birthday today! At all MRT Stations and Bus Interchanges. Collar pins waiting for you to pick them up!
