I've seen a few too many moths around the apartment for the past week or so. (Maybe ten or so.) What's odd is that they don't seem to be central to any one area. I find them both in my main front room/"kitchen" area (actually, they don't seem to be near the "kitchen" portion of the room, but out in the "living room" area) and in the bedroom (although not as many there) and I've even found one in the bathroom. I can't figure out where the heck they're coming from or whether they are clothes moths or pantry moths.
Mr. Neighbor suspects they are dining on the two 50-pound bags of corn I got to try to lure the squirrels away from the bird feeders (didn't work, btw). I don't want to have to throw out two 50-pound bags of corn!
I keep most of my grains and rice in glass jars in the front room closet. I do, however, have a few bags of beans and rice (from the Survival Center). I wonder if they've gotten into them? I haven't yet seen any moths in that closet. Oh, and I do have pasta in a kitchen cupboard that is bagged that I just clip closed with a clothesline clip after using some. But, again, they don't seem to be in the "kitchen" area or that closet. So I'm stumped and I don't know how to go about getting rid of the darned things. I get such heebie jeebies over bugs. I so dread the thought of actually looking for larvae in my beans and rice. Ugh. But, sheesh, I don't know if I can bring myself to throw out all that food (which is what seems to be the recommended approach if they're pantry moths).
Might anyone have a guess on where they're coming from and how to get rid of them? I'm researching it online. It sounds like the remedy depends on whether they are clothes moths or pantry moths, and I really haven't a clue. Maybe I'll just treat for both types.
