So...I'm volunteering at a horse rescue in Cottonwood and am thinking of sponsoring a horse to ride, if not possibly purchase a horse in the future. I had the pleasure of watching a farrier work and then got to work with and groom 3 horses. Needless to say I fell in love with one. I'm considering it, possibly...not right now if this is Nathan reading this. But for the fun of it, she's a 15 year old breeding stock paint, looks a little thoroughbred-y, especially her feet and such. But we spent some time together. I ran her in the round pen when she was first coming out, being a little hot headed and such, but once in there she was disciplined, confidant, attentive and loving. She walked right up to me once she was done. Once I was done I took her out and gave her a thorough grooming, she's shedding out and is a gorgeous bay, two socks in the hind, long thick black mane and tail, star, snip, and snippet on the end of her little nose. She's trained both english and western and maybe Saturday I might be able to trailer her along with Holly's horse (also a rescue) to class. At the least I'm going to try and ride her Saturday, see how it goes. It was exciting to say the least. I then went home to Mom's, and decided to ride Dear Heart a little, very little...I almost got thrown. That was a thrill, but I held on like a mother--- and didn't come off, shortly after that she attempted to dump me by going under the shelter where the 2x4's are low. No luck there...finally she gave up and I ended on a good note. I think it's about time to let her just be her.
