Ren Faire 2008
So, with the much needed stress relief myself, Nathan and Louie packed all up and garbed up (myself at least) for the Ren faire. I love to go to these and this was no exception by far. So I went, saw friends, hung out and about mid day was invited to join the team persay. I was asked to work the following day for the faire with the fact that food and lodge would be provided. So...I asked Nathan and he was fine with it so I stayed the evening. The fair was alright on Sat. Not much turn out to be honest, mostly due to the drizzle and then decent rain in the afternoon, but anyway, I stayed thru and rather enjoyed myself till the med team discovered my massive wound...henceforth referred to by medical professionals as a really bad black widow spider bite. After that the evening turned to shit. I was poked, prodded, debrided, squeezed and in pain and nausea till they were satisfied that it was sufficiently 'de-venomized'. After enduring this we had a fun bout which involved the bear's head from the archery range. We took the leg, threw it into the cooler of one of the vendor's, the body went in the stockades and the head...well...it went on the throne with 3 bottles of hard alcohol and an irish hat on his wee head. The queen was royally pissed the next day and sent it back. That was fun...but anyway. Faire was better the next day, went around walking in the morning, plagued with everyone asking me how my shoulder was, which involved multiple bandage removals...but anyway, got in the ticket booth right before shift change, learned very quick, and then started selling. Day was great for patronage, had one older guy in genuine garb of a priest who said "I think you just gave me a poorgasm". That was funny, didn't see him again, must have left before I got out of the box of hell...I left there at 3:30 right before Tartanic started playing again. So I ran thru the kitchen dragging a few friends along and we went and danced. It was great. The band is awesome...they make bagpipes more than just funeral instruments. Met the band, that was fun...they needed all their CD's shipped off on Monday so I volunteered to do so, so I had to go back to their hotel after the faire and grab them. We talked for a long time, they're really interesting, more than just their music. But anyway all in all a good weekend...sadly I have to go back to this drudge of life...school...memorial services...family...I wish everyday was REN!! and I wish Nathan was more into it, more than just the patron sort you know...more the dress up have fun type but you can't change people. He enjoys going and I guess that's all I can ask for. Anyway, I'm planning on going to Folsom faire in about 2 weeks if anyone wanted to join I'm willing to drive, just help with gas is all, and you'll have to do your room and board, I have mine all settled because I'll be working. But anyway. Love to all...long time no update, but Nathan posted I figured I would.
