change of approach?

Alright, y'all are going to hear my adventure stories one way or another, and this is an uncompelling medium for them. So I won't just chronicle fun things anymore, those will have to wait for in person or something. Now I'll just include less detailed observations, desires, etc.

- I learned I can pretty well enjoy a party where everyone but me is drinking. I can enjoy it especially well if I can break one or two slightly drunk people away from the main unit and engage them in conversation engaging enough that they will stop drinking altogether and let themselves sober up in order to converse more effectively. It's good stuff.

- At church today, I realized something that could make church so much better for me, and hereby challenge anyone in a ministry position to attempt it. Constantly in churches today, you get constant pop culture references, from everything from Talledega Nights to Extreme Home Makeover. What I would love would be an (admittedly pretentious in concept, but not necessarily in attitude) learned man's church, in which the only cultural references are to literature and history, some current events dealing with international politics and such, things like that. It'd be neat to have in-depth analysis of historical events for their Christian context, things like that. It might not be good for long-term spiritual sustenance, probably more for just ecstatic delight for how much more interesting it is than most churches. Then again, maybe the right person could make it really fulfilling as well.

- Finally, the movie Network is absolutely amazing. you should all see it. Really. Like, one of the most brilliant movies I've seen. There were times I actually just raised my hands to the ceiling in exultation over how awesome it was.
