Mrs. Antolak, Dr. Harrison, distinguished guests, family, friends, and fellow graduates of the class of 2005; we have done it, we have completed high school. Today we reflect on our long journey and admire our accomplishments, we thank those around us who have helped us to reach this point, and we look toward the bright future that lies before us.
Each and every graduate here has at some point or another, during their stay here at Reid Ross, pushed themselves just a little bit farther than what they might expect. We have all stayed up late working on that paper we procrastinated on, we have studied for that overwhelming test, and we stayed after school to make up work and get extra help. But why? To graduate of course. But really, why did we even as naïve freshman bother to do the homework that would eventually pave the way toward reaching this day?
Was it because our parents would have punished us if we didn’t do it? Was it because our teachers would rightfully criticize our laziness? Was it because our friends also endured the same trials? It is all that and more. It is everyone, everyone who has ever pushed us to do more. That’s right, we have everyone to thank for our success. We ought to thank our parents who kept us in line and raised us to succeed; we must thank our teachers, who challenged us and insured our education; we should thank our friends who encouraged us to continue and lessened the stress, and every other person that has aided us in our drive. Without these persons, we would never have amounted to such success.
Now, with our endeavor behind us, let us venture onward. Let us venture out into the world in our own directions and take our own paths. Let us accept and overcome the challenges that lay before us. Let us not forget the troubles we have already overcome, learning from each; let us not forget those who have helped us to make it this far; and let us continue on in determination to achieve everything great that we deserve.
Class of 2005, we have conquered high school, let us now celebrate, for tomorrow we will conquer the world.
