Side Story: 누구세요? (Who Are You?)
Author's Note: This is the special chapter written in the point-of-view of Maya, Mira's cousin, when she was trapped in the lift with EXO's Kai.
This special chapter actually has several continuation chapters written in the POVs of Maya and Kai but they haven't been made public yet.

Side Story: 누구세요? (Who Are You?)
"Yes, Unnie, I'm reaching your school soon," I said over the phone before hanging up.
I was in the bus on the way to the university my cousin was on her semester-long exchange at. I, on the other hand, had some time to spare in the midst of my theatre studies overseas exposure trip. So I decided to attend the KPop concert, free-of-charge at the aforementioned university.
I alighted at the bus stop near the main entrance and just then my phone beeped. It was my cousin's text:
Hey, I am really busy right now, do you think you could find your way to the Microbiology labs on the second floor? I will send you a detailed map of the school! So sorry!!
I sighed and opened the image she sent and started walking towards the main building, trying to navigate my way through. Alas, I was terrible at directions so I soon wandered to a very quiet section of the school, with minimal activity. Little did I know, was that the place where I meet the person who will change my life.
"Ohhh, I am SO lost!!" I whimpered as I looked down the silent corridor. Not a human in sight. I decided to take the lift to the first floor to search for the Science blocks once more. I pressed the button of the elevator and waited in front of it, swaying from side to side slightly to shake off the queer feeling. The lift doors opened and I gasped. It was Kai.
My all-time bias in KPop group EXO was standing there in front of me. Before I could say anything, he pulled me into the elevator and pushed the Close button.
"Jong In?" I stammered. His eyes widened at my calling his birth name.
"Hmm? 누구세요? (Who are you?)" he asked. I didn't know what to say. I just remained silent.
The elevator stopped moving. Mixed emotions overwhelmed me.
Somehow I wished the door wouldn't open. So I could stay with him longer.
We waited for quite a while, expecting the doors to open. They remained shut. Kai began jabbing at the Open button. It was no use. I smiled secretly and changed my expression as soon as he turned to me.
"We're trapped, do you think you could call someone to help us? I didn't bring my phone along," he said.
"I...ah, I can call my Unnie!," I replied quickly and took my phone out of my coat pocket. I called my cousin who picked up immediately. We were both speaking in Korean.
"WHAT? YOU WHAT??" my cousin screamed from the other end. I held my phone away from my ear.
"You heard me. Now helpppp!!" I whined and looked at Kai who raised his eyebrows at me.
"Okay I will get help, it will take quite some time though. Remain calm and... wait, who are you with?" my cousin wanted to know.
"Jong In, I am with Jong In," I said slowly.
At this, Kai frowned. He looked like he had to ask me something urgently but held back because I was on the phone.
"종인이 누구야?(Who is Jong In?)" my cousin said. I sighed.
"EXO's Kai."
"오모? 그 사람??? (Omo? That person???)"
"Yes, so will you please help us out of this?"
"알았어 알았어 (Okay okay)," my cousin said and hung up.
Kai blinked. He went into a corner and sat down. He gestured for me to sit as well.
"So, do I know you?" he asked.
"No. No you don't," I answered him sadly and shook my head.
"So you're a fan?"
I didn't want to seem like I was head over heels over him. So I lied.
"Nope, not that either."
"Hmm...Then do you know me?"
"You could say that. I mean EXO's all the hype now, right?" I said and smiled. He smiled back at me.
"Thank you. So your sister is a student here?" he asked. I shook my head.
"My cousin. She is an exchange student here."
"Ohhh... wow she must be really smart, this university is really prestigious."
I sighed and shrugged.
"I haven't seen someone as stressed out as she is. Always worrying. Always whining," I laughed. Kai laughed along with me.
"You look cute when you laugh, you're not local right? Your accent shows it," he chuckled. I felt my cheeks burn.
"I am on sort of an exchange too. In my country, we go to junior college before taking college entrance exams. It's a little difficult to explain the education system back in my country but you could say it's like high school..." I squeaked. I took in a deep breath and turned to face him. He was nodding at what I said.
"Jong In...no wait, Kai?" I started.
"Nono, Jong In is fine, you can call me that," he assured me with a grin. I felt my heart skip a beat.
"Ahh... okay. Jong In-sshi?"
"Nono, call me Jong In-oppa. You're younger than me," he laughed again. I could have sworn my face was as red as ketchup.
"Jong In-oppa?"
"네~? (Yes~?)" he replied nicely.
"I've always thought you were really handsome. And you are," I stammered and covered my face.
"Hmm... thank you. So now that you've met me, are you a fan?" he joked and waited for an answer.
"No."
"Why not?" he looked disappointed.
"Can I at least be an acquaintance instead?"
His disappointment vanished and his smile was back.
"Then should we get to know each other more? Ah, let's take a picture. It's not everyday that we get stuck in the elevators like this."
I gaped at him. He tilted his head, gesturing for me to take my phone out.
"1,2,3...Kimchi!" we both exclaimed before I touched the camera button on my phone screen.
"Send it to me, I will give you my email address, we can remain in contact after this right?"Kai said. I was shocked beyond words.
Why is he being so nice to me?
I nodded and handed him my phone. Just then, the phone rang. My cousin's photo flashed on the screen. I snatched the phone back and picked up.
"Hello?"
"야, 괜찮아? (Ya, Are you okay?)" a male voice spoke. EXO D.O's voice spoke to be exact. I gasped and shoved the phone back into Kai's hands. He answered the call.
"Hello? Oh, it's you, Kyungsoo-hyung" he chuckled, "Yes, that elevator, yup, thank you~"
He hung up and continued saving himself as a contact.
"They will be here in 5 minutes. Your cousin and Kyungsoo-hyung," Kai sighed and looked at me, "I think I should leave you with my number too, but promise me you won't go distributing these information to anyone. Not even your cousin...though she is kinda cute too but nowhere as cute as you..." he trailed off when the elevator started moving again. The doors open to reveal three people.
One, my cousin, looking all flustered and embarrassed at the same time. It seemed that she had just run out of the lab to look for me without even taking her lab coat off.
Two, the operations manager, who looked so bored he made being trapped in the lift seem trivial and normal.
And the third person was my cousin's EXO bias, Do Kyung Soo. His eyes wide opened, he rushed into the lift to help Kai up. My cousin couldn't move from where she was standing. She tucked a lock of hair behind her ear and beckoned me to come out. I stood up and before I could leave the elevator, Kai grabbed my wrist, making me stop in my tracks. He handed me my phone and winked.
"I hope to see you soon," he smiled.
The atmosphere seemed a little weird but I thought nothing of it and smiled back.
"Me too, Jong In-oppa."
