First day in Rome!
Jeff and I made it to Rome, just barely! First I almost lost my bag by taking the wrong luggage off the supershuttle, then my plane was delayed so I had to sprint through O'Hare (literally) to make my connecting flight with Jeff, and when we got to Madrid we were late again so had to move quickly through that airport to catch our flight to Rome. But all's well that ends well, and we successfully made it to Rome!
We wandered around, found our hotel, got like a 4 pm lunch from a (rather overpriced) random restaurant near the hotel, discovered that there is just one place in the whole darn city to get a Vodafone sim card (and it's nowhere near us), and headed back to the hotel to recuperate. Jeff didn't get much sleep on the flight so he's beat and wants to sleep now, at like 6:30 pm. I got a bunch of sleep, but am still feeling somewhat jet lagged. We'll probably just wake up at like 5 am tomorrow and be sad that everything is closed. Once things open up, though, we've got glorious plans!
