What with yesterday being Halloween, and all . . . do you read horror? Stories of things that go bump in the night and keep you from sleeping?
I don't really read horror. I vividly remember trying to read Stephen King's It several years back-boyfriend influence-and having to ditch it after three chapters because I'd already been yelling "EWWWWWW!!!!" at the book three times. That genre is just not for me, for the most part.
The one exception I can think of is The Historian
, which involves a lot of vampires, etc. It was written in a classy way, with such a strong historical background, and the scary/bloody parts were not gratuitous. So: if I found another book with non-gratuitous horror elements, I might be ok with it. Any recommendations? :)
