First off, a slightly-delayed Booking Through Thursday:

I would enjoy reading a meme about people’s abandoned books. The books that you start but don’t finish say as much about you as the ones you actually read, sometimes because of the books themselves or because of the circumstances that prevent you from finishing. So . . . what books have you abandoned and why?

Usually if I abandon a book, the process goes like this:
- Start the book
- Get kind of bored with it
- Try to force myself to do at least a chapter a night
- Find that still so boring that I forget to do it
- Completely forget about the book altogether.

The most recent of these casualties was very nearly Eldest
, which just about bored me to tears during the whole training segment (about half the book!). I finally made it past the Zone of Boredom, so I think I will actually be able to finish the book. Wicked was another very-near casualty, and proof that sometimes it really is only willpower that prevents total abandonment.

The most recent book I did NOT abandon: Boston Jane Series: An Adventure
by Jennifer Holm. It's a cute book-predictable, but worth a quick read. I actually do want to hunt down the rest of the series.

Anyway... Mike is visiting now and Bryon is home from training, so we are pretty occupied running around doing various things. Before Bryon got back, Mike and I went with my brother to see The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
. It's very well done. As Brion said, the movie wouldn't have worked if Brad Pitt wasn't able to pull off being a complete psycho; I also think it wouldn't have worked without Casey Affleck. That boy can act, not to mention come off as creepy as heck. It was 2.5 hours well spent.

On Saturday we went to Sara's Halloween party. It was okay. I did have a good time, but we didn't end up staying over like we'd planned. I LOVE my costume this year. I'm not saying what it is until after Halloween though, because I want to surprise Danielle and Jesse when they come over. :D It's probably my favorite costume ever. I'll try and post a picture after our Halloween party on Wednesday, a very informal gathering where scary movies will be watched, and yummy treats eaten. I really want to bob for apples, but I'm not sure we have a container big enough. We'll see...

Happy Halloween!! :)
