Barely Booking Through Thursday

In talking with Marisa, she and I have decided that Thursday needs to get its act together.

At least I remembered to do BTT today.

What’s the worst typographical error you’ve ever found in (or on) a book?

Hmm. I know I've seen plenty of editing, spelling, or grammatical mistakes over the years, but none of them are really sticking out in my mind. It drives me crazy when you KNOW a book has been through at least one editor, and yet glaring errors still pass through, sometimes a dozen or more (depending on the length of the book). It occasionally makes me want to take up copyediting, as I am extremely picky about these things. (Uhm. Not that you would be able to tell on this journal... but I can pick errors out easily when reading others' writing.)

Being that I don't have a specific book-typo story to share, I'll just share my favorite typos-in-general story:

A couple of Christmases ago, I attended the Christmas Eve service with my family. Near the end of the service, as we were about to sing "Silent Night" and light the candles, I realized the pew was shaking because my dad and aunt were laughing VERY hard, and doing their best to keep it quiet. Poking my dad, I asked him what was up, and he pointed to the program (verse 3, specifically):

Silent night, holy night!
Son of God, love's pure light.
Radiant beans from Thy holy face <---
With the dawn of redeeming grace,
Jesus Lord, at Thy birth
Jesus Lord, at Thy birth

Predictably, my father exercised his label-making skills and my aunt received her very own can of Radiant Beans for Christmas the next day.
