I'm disappointed!

I really need to buy a cocktail dress within the next couple of weeks for my New Year's party with my family. The handsome Emmert/Mauck/McFarland men are wearing tuxedos, and the lovely Emmert/Mauck/McFarland women are going to wear dresses. Jayna and I bought this dress, and I think Jayna found some pink satin heels, for our mom. She'll look so pretty in it! Jayna's wearing a long dress and gloves that she probably found for $0.50 at a vintage store or for free in my grandmother's closet, but I don't have time to go thrift store shopping so I've been looking here in Caen.

But everything is bubble hems and empire waists. Bubble hems are flattering on me but I don't like the way they look in general, and empire waists aren't flattering on me in the least. They make me look pregnant. In fact, I was wearing an empire-waist dress once and someone asked me if I was! Granted, it was an old man without tact, but he said it in front of, like, half my church. Anyway. What happened to simple a-lines? Is it so much to ask for a dress that makes me look as much like Audrey Hepburn as possible? I'm disappointed in you, fashion. You look horrible on me.

Actually, one thing I've found is this. Not at all what I'd normally wear, because one-shouldered dresses are rather silly, but it's fun, isn't it? It's about $60 with the discount. Not great, but not too bad either.

Well, now that I've droned on about things nobody cares about (and don't worry, I'm not insulted!), I will just leave you with a few things:
--My DALF (standardized French language test that I didn't need to take but did anyway because it was free) went well. I think.
--I hate relative pronouns in English and French.
--Squirrel is a hard word to say in every language and I think I'll make that the subject of the video I hope to have created by the time I leave.
--France is less fun with finals.
--I missed Erin when she was in Oxford because she wasn't available for me to talk to every single moment. Right now, there is no one online. Quite frankly, I'm insulted that no one would get up at 4:00 AM to talk to me, but whatever, okay? Whatever.
--9 days until I get to see my family!!!
