"Heidi, no one here is into "The Office" as much as I am, and it's making me sad!"
"Yeah, I remember that one time when you squealed at something Jim did, and everyone just kind of looked at you . . ."
Have you ever had an incredibly realistic dream (meaning, the contents were things that could actually happen), then woken up from it and because you realize it wasn't real, it turns into a terrible nightmare?
This happened to me today after I took a much needed three hour nap (Heidi and I spent way too much time goofing off last night), and soon after, the opposite happened. I heard from Chris that on "The Office" the Scranton Branch was going to close. A terrible nightmare indeed.
But it's not going to! My nightmare turned into a dream! I couldn't be more happy if it had been my own job on the line. I cannot wait until next week's episode. Finally Jim will be where he belongs- back in Scranton, with Pam. Unfortunately, Karen's tagging along. I hope that Karen and Ryan end up together. Goodness, I feel so silly for not figuring this plot out sooner! I can tell that this season will be even more emotionally taxing than last season. Okay, end spoiliers.
I love Thursday nights at the Wesley Foundation. We have about twenty people come together and watch The Office together, but it's just not as fun. No one here gets into it like I do. I need to import some real fans to Kentucky to watch this show with me so that I have someone to fly off the couch with whenever Jim and Pam have a surprising moment. And I do mean that literally. When Jim and Pam kissed on the season two finale, I practically jumped out of my seat. No one reacts like that here! And I promise that I'm not the only one who does- I know of several others who have the same emotional investment in the relationship between Pam and Jim that I do! I need to import a real fan or two to enjoy this show with. Any takers?
Newsweek had a very interesting article in which an athiest criticized Christianity, and belief in God in general. As a Christian, one would predict that I would be angry at the author, but the article just made me angry at Christians. Sigh. Above it was an article about the new evangelical movement, which I totally support. I'm happy with the direction that people like Rob Bell are taking evangelism. I am not happy with "
Brother Rick", if that's even his real name. He stands outside of the Student Center on Thursdays and damns people to hell. Next Thursday, if I see him, I'm going snap a certain former Dunbar student that he's entranced out from under his cultish leadership and slap him with my Bible. Figuratively, of course. He's a menace.
