the first time he meets kyuhyun, zhou mi does not particularly like him. it's not that he dislikes him, per se, it's just that zhou mi has a natural predilection for people who are kind and good-natured (like donghae and ryeowook) or stylish and fabulous (like heechul and himself). kyuhyun, with his pasty pizzaface, is none of these things. zhou mi has heard kyuhyun sing, has marvelled at his voice jealously, but being confronted with him in the flesh is something else entirely. it is a relief, indeed, to meet someone half as lanky and awkward as himself, and he hopes that this will spark at least a friendly conversation, as they wait for a meeting to start.
'you are quite more tall than you appear on the television, kyuhyun-ssi,' zhou mi says, trying to be diplomatic. he is well aware of the awkwardness of his korean, but everyone has been so nice.
until kyuhyun, who does not look up from his video game for at least another full minute, then says what did you say in such a way that it is abundantly clear, even through the language barrier, that he does not actually need to repeat himself.
it is probably a good thing that eeteuk appears then, all smiles as always. 'ah, you've met our maknae, kyuhyun.'
kyuhyun is marginally more polite the next few times they speak, when he can be pried from his videogame. at first zhou mi is somewhat put off by the way kyuhyun drops honorifics like hot plates, but then he quickly realizes it is not something he should take personally.
