I haven't been on LJ in forever. I will have plenty of time to catch up...because my entire department at work has been downsized. We are still working this week and maybe part of next week. Because our positions were eliminated, by law they have to give us 60 days notice, so I am an active employee (with pay and benefits) until the end of ( Read more... )

I'm very sorry to hear you've lost your job. My dad was laid off several months back after 24 years of service to his company. It feels like my family was also kicked in the stomach too. Lots of struggling families in America right now.

Yes, it is tough all over. There aren't a lot of good paying jobs available right now.

no doubt it is a kick in the slats, I'm sorry. I am glad to hear about the severance package though. start looking for something now, it took me two years to find this job in Geogia, and they have cut my pay by six days already this year.

I feel like I'm in limbo. I actually have a couple of good leads, but don't know if I want to stay in the same industry. I know I'm probably going to have to take a pay cut (not that I was making a fortune before!). At least if that happens I might be eligible for some assistance that I wasn't before.
