Live to Run, Run to Die
While Brook believes that the Devil Fruit that he had eaten is a curse, it's a blessing in a way, too.
He can't swim, after all--and he's surrounded by water every single day and every single night.
Of course, he can run across the water because of his light skeleton body, but if he could just happen to accidentally stop his legs in the middle of the sea and allow himself to fall...
He would be free to sink to the bottom. He would have no choice but to close his eyes and fall into a neverending sleep, and he wouldn't be able to rewind and erase his choice, wouldn't be able to be revived once more.
And no one would interrupt this process of destroying himself. No one would save him. He's by himself, has been by himself for what has seemed like an eternity. The hospital's not far, but it's closed down for good, since it's been reduced to a pile of bones and lifeless bodies and limbs ripped from their sockets without mercy.
No one would interrupt him and save him, and life would be great--because he wouldn't have one anymore.
