“My, it sure is raining real heavily,” Bell-mére commented in a strangely cheerful voice.
Beside her, Banchina was rummaging through her bag with increasing dismay. “Oh no, I seem to have left my umbrella at home. Maki, can I share yours?”
Makino, however, had also searched her bag and come out empty-handed.
“Yasopp can send Banchina home, right, Yasopp?” Bell-mére chirped.
“Eh!?” said boy turned beet red at the idea. When Bell-mére made an exasperated eye-roll at him, he hurriedly collected himself. “Of course I can! If you’re alright with it, that is.”
Banchina was also blushing. “That’s really kind of you. But Maki…”
Bell-mére had an answer to that as well, heartily clapping her red-haired friend on the shoulder. “Don’t worry, Shanks will bring Makino home.”
Shanks’ eyes widened. He would definitely love to do so, but there was a problem. “I-”
A light nudge on his side cut him off, and an umbrella was wordlessly pressed into his hand. Shanks shot Benn a shocked glance. The responding raised eyebrow read clearly as ‘What are you waiting for?’
Grinning, Shanks gave his best friend a two-finger salute and mouthed a grateful ‘I owe you’ before jogging over to Makino.
After the two couples-to-be had left, Benn looked on in amusement as Bell-mére idly swung two umbrellas by their straps. “The things we do for our friends,” she said dramatically with a mock sigh.
She nonchalantly tossed one to him. “Since you did good, I’ll take pity on your poor umbrella-less soul and lend you one,” she said teasingly.
“What, we aren’t sharing?” Benn smirked right back, not missing a beat.
Bell-mére shot him a laughing look as she stepped out into the rain, twirling her umbrella. “You’re a thousand years too early to try that, Benn Beckman.”
