I might be stretching the prompt a little bit here...

Title: Once Forgotten, Never Removed
Rating: K
Media: Fic
Characters: Usopp, and someone else I can not quite remember...
Word Count: 202
Prompt: Scar
Warnings: For anyone not caught up with the One Piece manga, do not read because this little ditty is based off of the latest chapter. It's not really spoilerish, but it will be confusing if you do not know what is going on.
A/N: Inspired by the many theorists running around about Usopp after this newest chapter which has really zinged my inspiration! This is also my shortest entry thus far and I'm proud, because it feels pretty layered on.

Terror gripped him in an unforgiving vice, his entire body dedicating energy to only one task: Running.

He was running and he had no plans of stopping.

Why was he still here? Sure, he respected the Tontatta - they were too gullible certainly, yet they were also loyal and determined. But didn’t they know when to call it quits?! It was hopeless! They were up against a Shichibukai’s subordinates!

He knew the dwarves were counting on him, believing in the hero he wished he had never pretended to be.

(He never meant for this to happen; his lies had never hurt anyone before!)

He had no choice though - he just wasn’t strong enough! But it was okay. Once Franky got here, or maybe Zoro or Luffy… heck, even Kin’emon! One of them would take care of it.

(No one’s ever really needed him anyways…)

Just as he was shoving his way past some bystanders, a voice in the distance called for him:

“Usopp!”

Tears he couldn’t explain filled his eyes. Shame and remorse burned holes into his heart.

But he kept running because there was definitely one truth he knew for certain:

Usopp did not know who the doll calling for him was.
