Being fifty feet tall had certain advantages, Shirahoshi found, once she left her tower and began experiencing her own kingdom first hand. Few things were out of her reach. She could visit new construction sites and help build homes for people. She could take children in her hands and show them the things she could see, and with such an expanded perspective, they seemed more accepting of figurative horizons as well- Fishfolk and Humans living in peace under the wide blue sky; Noah rebuilt and kept in good repair until its intended time; unity among the kingdom.
But sometimes, it was hard, too. People treated her differently, always as the Princess, and she could never simply cover her hair with a hood and move among them unnoticed. She'd tried hiding inside of Megalo again, but it made her dear friend choke so horribly that she never could bring herself to do it after that. Her brothers did their best to comfort her- just as they always had- but every once in awhile she missed her pirate friends to the point of tears. They had been the first outside of her family to like her for her, to love and accept Shirahoshi, sans Princess. They had also, in a way, given her the freedom to seek out healing salve for her inner hurt. Leaving her room was still frightening, and she still paused in the doorway. But it was unlocked, and open, and eventually she swam through and down the halls, looking for her father when she was lonely. She didn't need to say anything, just look at him as she chewed her lower lip, and wherever he was, he would take her into his own giant arms and hold her close.
