[One of the best parts of the holiday season was the food, especially the sweet treats...and that goes double for a child as young as Sora. He loves cookies especially, and this year, he doesn't just want to watch his family make them. He wanted to learn how, too!
So when he walks into the room, and sees Ami scrape her last batch of burnt cookies off the pan and set them aside, Sora knows that there's going to be another batch made. If there was every a time to ask, it was now.]

[It can't turn out much worse than Ami's habit of burning them. It's famous.
Ami can't say she's exactly happy to be caught with the burnt evidence of her failure, but she covers it well after just a second to wipe the unguarded expression from her face. She should be able to do these things for her brother.]
If you want. [She makes it sound as if she's granting a favor instead of eager to do something together as well. Something in her has never been able to shut out family. Besides, she can definitely be damage control in terms of mess and disaster... right?]

[No matter how she makes the answer sound, Sora is more then eager to take the opportunity to jump in and help. He smiles, eagerly running (yes, running in the kitchen) to the counter, near whatever baking supplies are still out.
He's eager to help, but he's got to know where to start, right?]
[Thankfully, he does know what she means - he's seen eggs being broken before, even if he's never tried himself. He gets a clean bowl from one of the lower cabinets, and takes it to the table.
Sora picks up one of the eggs, staring at it for a minute. He just had to break it really carefully...right? That couldn't be too hard.
He holds the egg as carefully as he can. He bangs it against the side of the countertop lightly...too lightly, actually. The next time he bangs it just a little bit harder - success! The egg has a single, nice crack in it. Now he just has to open it up over the bowl, and not get any shells in there-
[Ami, not everyone is you, who grew up neat and tidy and overly responsible. This is a normal four-year-old boy. Be patient.
And surprisingly, she is. She gives the bowl only a mildly irritated look, and after a moment looking at Sora, she softens enough to show him how to fish out the pieces of shell currently swimming in the bowl.]
This way. Take this broken shell [She chooses the largest, most intact piece and quickly wipes away a stray bit likely to break off] and scoop up the pieces inside it.
[She demonstrates the technique. Slippery things, some of the shell pieces take a few tries, but it's not too difficult.

I get to help this time, right?
[Though as to how well that might turn out...]

So what do we do first?

Break one of those into a clean bowl. Try not to get any shell into the egg, but if you do, I'll show you how to get it out.
[Ami: clean, efficient. And maybe with her brother here, her baking curse will be broken.]

-and that's when he crushes the egg completely.]
