Interlude III - The Third Dream

[She had to stop reading the fantasy novels before bed because now she was a mermaid in her dreams. She blinked at the water around her, a bit unbelieving that she was breathing and see the clear blue all around her. Much of the oceans in Gaia were hardly this clear. But it was also her dream so it could be whatever she wanted. She looked down at

[The mermaid floats by, small, airy bubbles passing through his snout before the small blue creature finally emerges, tiny fins propelling it forward enough to hover close to the human/animal hybrid.

Against the scaly blue skin, the eyes are even brighter - piercing through the dark, vast ocean to watch this strange newcomer.]

[She blinks at the creature, hands cupping beneath the seahorse to bring it closer. She tilts her head to study it and sees those bright blue eyes.

Despite the fact that mako can give everyone that mako glow, all SOLDIERs still had different variations of the mako blue eyes. Sephiroth being the only one with green eyes. Zack's were always ridiculously blue, Angeal's were a deep blue, and her own were of a lighter, almost grayer blue.]

...Zack?

[hisdreamsmyfate]

[Almost unconsciously, his tail wraps around one of her fingers to get a better sense of balance. But he's still staring up at the woman, still curious.]

--where are we?

[The voice almost chirps out of the tiny body, the dragon-like head bowing to examine their surroundings more intently. He rests in one of her palms, so intent on staring that he nearly curls in on himself.]

I don't know.

[She isn't really looking though. She's never seen a seahorse before and her other hand lightly trails over his tiny belly.]

[He squeals this time, fidgeting in the woman's grasp and finally jerking upright again.]

H-hey! I just ate!

[rhapsody_onfire]

[She lets go with a soft laugh.]

I'm sorry. Zack, what are you?

[hisdreamsmyfate]

[He puffs up, fanning his fins behind him before giving off his best seahorse-pout.]

That's what I was gonna ask you. This's your dream, right?

[rhapsody_onfire]

Well, yes but... [She strokes his belly again.] I still don't know what you are. However... you're adorable.

[hisdreamsmyfate]

[This time, he doesn't mind the belly rubs, now that he's more adjusted to them. The little seahorse moves closer, tipping its head once in curiousity, then again as it examines the rest of the mermaid's body.]

You still look human... but you're not. Half of you looks like the fish I've seen around here.

How're you breathin' down here, anyway?

[rhapsody_onfire]

[She looks down at herself, examining her tail, the scales, and gills.]

Well, I am a mermaid. I'm breathing down here because mermaids are half-fish. I have normal lungs, however, since I can breath above the water as well.

So you have both gills an' lungs? Lucky!

[rhapsody_onfire]

Well, that's what it means to be a hybrid, I guess.

[She shrugged lightly.]

I could always try and change you into something else? It is my dream, after all.

[hisdreamsmyfate]

Nah, I'm fine with how I am! [He straightens up, giving his tiny head a little shake.] Hard to do squats with no legs, but I'll manage.

[rhapsody_onfire]

[She can't help the chuckle, a surprisingly bubbly sound.]

Only you would prefer this form than even half of your original.

[hisdreamsmyfate]

Hey, I'll be a seadragon if I damn well please. Plus if someone sees the two of us together in the same form, I don't even wanna think of what rumours would pop up.

[The seahorse puffs itself, flapping its fins and shaking its head.]

Oh and we wouldn't want that, now would we?

[And just to tease further, her lips pressing against his head.]
