[ This dream is a treat for all those who find themselves with the Doctor. As normal, he's spinning around the console and piloting the ship that looks like it's made out of odds and ends. He is rambling on of course, something about one of his favorite times of the year. Even though he can go through all of time and space, so technically the time ( Read more... )

[This is different, a change from the dreams of destruction and familiar places. This is something he doesn't know. He studies the unknown vessel and its console, his eyes bright, his expression curious. He's never been able to travel, not on his own, only in the line of duty. He's always been company property, so to speak.

He was asking a question about the TARDIS's navigation system, interested in how it functions, but when it is ignored, he turns toward the doors as they're thrown open.]

Very well. I'm not one to shy from adventure.

Adventure is the best--sorry, not sure we've met. I'm the Doctor. And you are?

No, I don't believe we have. A pleasure, Doctor. My name is Sephiroth. [It is true that he doesn't back away from adventure, but he glances at the strange technology again, with undisguised fascination.] An interesting craft.

Sephiroth.... Sephiroth... doesn't ring a bell, I'm afraid. Ah well, that's alright. New faces! I always enjoy those.

[ He whirls around to look at the TARDIS console with a smile. ] Yes, she's called The TARDIS.

No reason that it should. [Sephiroth finds it refreshing not to be known, for once.] There is something to be said for new acquaintances.

The TARDIS? Perhaps you could tell me more about her sometime. I'm unfamiliar with this design.

What was the holiday you mentioned? All Hallows Eve, you said?

I'd be glad to! She and I have a long, long history together. Isn't that right, dear? [ The Doctor gives a fond pat to the blue wood. ]

That's the old name. It's called Halloween now-a-days.

I would appreciate that. I find new forms of technology fascinating. [He considers the Doctor's words and gesture, thoughtfully.] Is she sentient, or are you being figurative?

Nowadays? I believe you weren't at all sure of the year? [He smiles.] Nonetheless, I'm unfamiliar with the holiday by any name.

She is sentient. Very sentient. And she doesn't take to rude comments, just to warn you now.

Now-a-days being any time before roughly... 1900ish. Somewhere around then. I usually end up in more modern times. It was originally a sort of end of summer harvest holiday, now commercialized into being a one night party where you dress up, collect candy, and scare people.

[This information intrigues him even more; now he's fully distracted from the worries of his waking life. This is far beyond anything Science Research Division has created. They haven't even perfected space travel.] I would not want to insult her, and why would I? She strikes me as quite extraordinary. What sustains her?

I'm familiar with harvest festivals, but we have no such holiday on Gaia. So I am meant to dress up? I'm afraid I don't have much of a taste for sweets.

The Time Vortex. Sorry, didn't I mention? She's a time machine.

If you want. It's about being someone you're not for a day!

I surmised as much, based on your earlier statements. [The fact actually does excite him no small amount, but he keeps his emotions quiet, as usual.] I know nothing about time machines, or this Time Vortex.

[Sephiroth's answering smile is very faint and a little rueful.] Someone I'm not? Simple enough. [He dreams his battle leathers and pauldrons away, dressed only very simply now, in a dress shirt, jacket, and pants, his hair tied back. No longer the general, but himself.]

Time machines travel inside the Time Vortex. Very complicated stuff. Basically she used to be powered by a thing called the Eye of Harmony, but it's gone now... so instead she fuels herself off by time rifts. Not as good, given it's not the nuclease of a black hole, but close enough! Now, then. Halloween, yes?

[ He steps outside the doors into a busy street. Las Vegas! In Halloween time. ] Not very much of a costume, but I guess it'll work. Doubt anyone will care on the Vegas Strip anyways.

[Sephiroth is more interested in this talk of time machines, vortexes, and black holes than in Halloween and its unappealing promise of candy, yet he's polite, and he nods.] By all means.

[He is also not the most imaginative or festive man. He'd need some prompting to get him into a genuine costume.] For me, it is. [Perhaps he can pass as a vampire, being more than six feet tall and oddly pale--and there's always the glowing eyes with catlike pupils. He stares out the street before them as he follows the Doctor. It's not unlike downtown Midgar in some ways, but in other ways, it is decidedly alien.] The Vegas Strip? And what will we do here?

[ Next dream, Sephy.

The Doctor steps out and continues walking around, doing a small twirl as he does. ] That's all that matters, then! As long as you feel different. And I've no idea. Find some trouble?

[Sephiroth follows with a brisk stride and no unnecessary twirling. He's not the twirling type.] I do.

Trouble? [As a rule follower and enforcer, trouble is usually not what he gets into. Though some certainly do consider him trouble. This is a curious kind of doctor, he thinks.] I'm not adverse, but what kind of trouble does one usually get into here? You don't refer to violence, I assume. [The place doesn't have that air. Perhaps it's more of a cross between downtown Midgar and Gold Saucer, now that he thinks of it, looking at the lights.]

Well, nothing that would cause harm. The adventure sort of trouble!
