[ This dream is a treat for all those who find themselves with the Doctor. As normal, he's spinning around the console and piloting the ship that looks like it's made out of odds and ends. He is rambling on of course, something about one of his favorite times of the year. Even though he can go through all of time and space, so technically the time ( Read more... )

[She's not new to costumes and disguises. Mercury is rather new to this utter fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants last-second planning.

It doesn't feel too bad.

She speaks up, though, and when it's completely ignored, she fixes the Doctor with an unimpressed look and a slightly sharp voice.]

If you don't plan on listening, don't ask.

[She nods towards the doors.]

Anyway, let's go.

You're not dressed up... [ The Doctor makes a face, but he's not too surprised. ]

[She smirks lightly, almost playfully, and holds up the teletia-S.]

I can be.

Then you should! It's Halloween!

[Mercury clicks the teletia-s, and there's a flash.

It's such an obvious joke: She's suddenly dressed in Grecian attire, decked with gold, complete with the tall cadueceus and most of all, the winged sandals, talaria.

She is Mercury.

Like any girl, she invites comment.]

How is it?

[It feels nostalgic, very nostalgic. She remembers this type of clothing from her past.]

Ah, Hermes. Very interesting, bit predictable, but you'll certainly be the most unique one out there.

[It's a bit of a showy costume, with the gold. But she's pleased with the effect - and the prospect of notice.]

Shall we go, then?

[A pause.]

What about your costume?

[ He looks down and shrugs before turning and stepping out of the TARDIS. The Doctor doesn't need one! ]

[That hardly seems fair. (If he's setting her up for humiliation, she's going to make an icicle out of him.) But guess who's never done trick or treating or Halloween before?]

First of all, the newspaper, then.

Yes. [ He closes the doors behind her and goes off to find one. It looks like your typical American city, kids wandering around, the windows of shops dressed to look scary. ]

[What's with the decorations? She gives a picture of a black cat a slightly bemused look. It's a festival honoring saints, and a harvest tradition, from what she knows in books; she never filled that in with what modern culture has made it.]

This is for the festival?

thatoldthatkind October 27 2011, 18:13:34 UTC
Nope! No festival. Well, depending on the planet I guess there's a festival, but usually it's only one night! One night where it's okay for everyone to dress up and not be who they usually are. Of course it wasn't always like that, commercializing does wonders.

[That's far more appealing than she'd admit; being free to cast off the skin she was never comfortable in and take on another role and person.

She'd liked some parts of becoming a soldier.]

Is this the night? [She's becoming a little bit interested despite herself. It could be fun.]

Of course it is!

There's a better question.

[She grins mischievously, and looks down at her feet, at the enticing talaria.]

Do these work properly?

...I've no idea. Do they?
