[ he stands back, mouth set in a grim line as he watches Charles fiddle about and examine. this all looks too ... clinical for his tastes, laboratories and experiments aren't exactly something he's comfortable with. he almost wants to block off his ability to make sure he doesn't see anything. he turns to leave, but he's prompted, so he has to speak. ]

[ maybe it's knowing what comes after this that makes his stomach queasy. foresight is always dangerous, and in this particular case, it's giving him a headache enough that he rubs one of his eyes. why do some people's lives have to be so damn emotional? ]

[ he steps forwards, into the room. there's some--surge in him. he's younger, only eighteen, and this man is much older than him but he feels like he wants to protect him somehow. but, well. nothing can, can it? Professor X and all. ]

[ a pause. he looks away. ] What is it?

Cerebro. It can enhance telepathic skills.

I didn't know telepathy existed.

[ a lie. This isn't his dream, and so he knows he shouldn't meddle. ]
