It's been a pleasant day, Mizuno Ami's birthday, and the summer heat has gentled to a cool autumn evening. As night falls, a golden sun sinks into the sea and the water shimmers in its fading light as a luxurious cruise ship makes its unhurried way down the Sumida River

[ The Doctor arrives in his typical dress, with a fez included. He leans against one of the walls, crossing his ankles with a smile on his face. ]

[He seems not to mind the robots and Ami, who feels more at-home with them than with most humans, finds herself smiling. She calls out facetiously.]

Good evening, Doctor! Is the service here to your liking?

I'm more curious to see if it's to your liking.

Everything here is just as I decided. [She seems pleased with herself as she turns to the nearest robot, who makes a polite gesture of greeting to the Doctor. Ami smirks.]

Don't forget your manners just because they're computer programming.

[ He glances at the robot. ]

I've got a bad history with robots.

[waterfell]

[She nods, and the robot on her right side gets up, and holds out the chair for the Doctor.]

Tell me about it over dinner.

[thatoldthatkind]

[ The Doctor nods kindly to the robot then sits down in the chair. Well, this is new. It's not a killer robot. ]

The cooks spent a long time preparing this, so eat your fill, please!

[As always, the ingrained courtesies come with that air of flippancy, of amusement, of complying with the forms of manners only ironically.]
