Paradise Lands

[What a truly fascinating place this was! Sin had been trying to investigate it as much as possible, flitting between dream worlds and conversing with the dreamers until he discovered that it seemed to be just one big shared space for dreamers. A space he wasn't entirely in control of but he was a Spirit of Dreams, he could still weave his own. Yes ( Read more... )

Willow was entranced. There was simply no other word for it. She wished Tara were here, wished it sorely; knew that her girl would appreciate this as much as she was.

She stood in the bare plains, fingers outstretched to skim among the blossoms and the lights, feel them as they passed. There was a strange sense here, otherworldly; as a witch, she wasn't unfamiliar with such things. She instinctively knew that there was more at hand.

"This is beautiful," she said softly, not looking up from the flowers. "Who made this?"

"Just a wandering Spirit", came a voice from beside her suddenly. "You like it then? I was afraid nobody would come, being wrapped up in their own little dream worlds." As the strange man spoke he plucked one of the flowers, watching the light continue to spread from its center despite being disconnected from the earth.

Oh, this is... definitely the wandering spirit in question. That echoey voice was hint number one.

Willow's fairly at home talking to spirits, though; she merely turns to face him directly and gains an undertone of respect. "I like it very much," she admits. "Is this a real place?"

Well, well. He doesn't miss that undertone of respect in her voice and it earns her a mildly impressed smirk from him. Could it be she had some idea of who or at least what she was speaking to?

As for her question. "This place itself is an illusion. But outside of the dream it may or may not be real. Many believe it just to be legend, but I have personally witnessed the grand Kingdom of Agkelos. I'll leave it up to you to decide."

btw hun, I think you accidentally froze the thread below XD guiltapalooza March 13 2011, 01:05:44 UTC
"I've seen a lot of things that are 'just legend', so I'll buy that one," she says wryly, standing up straight from how she'd been crouched to touch the flowers. "Besides, unless I miss my mark, you're usually a legend, too, aren't you?"

Not that she knew who he was, precisely - Willow was talented and very strong magically, but divination had never been her thing. She'd just met a lot of supernatural beings to more than half expect someone marginally suspicious to be one as well.

...I swear that keeps happening lately when I'm not even clicking anything :| ;; Screening too! moonlit_voice March 13 2011, 09:28:56 UTC
He thought about that one and nodded in reply. "...I suppose you're right. Even those who know we exist tend to condemn us lately. Only a few have any respect for us anymore. Meeting a stranger like you is refreshing I have to say."

"I'm a witch," she explains, perking up at the talk of magic. "It's sort of my thing, otherworldly... everything."

She makes a vague hand gesture to encompass the 'everything'.

yes, yes it is. and one that hates me ;; moonlit_voice March 13 2011, 16:26:42 UTC
"Witch? Hmm, a shaman then? One who communes with spirits?" he asks. Because no human could use magic. There was only one he was aware of with some magical ability and that was because he had been born from a union between himself and a human woman. Other than that... magic was impossible for humans, at least in his world. Surely then she must just speak with magical beings.

"Sometimes," Willow agrees. "Sometimes spirits, sometimes gods. If you're really good, you can use straight up power to get things done, but I need some preparation for that first."

Being blinded by rage when she'd gone to fight Glory had counted preparation enough, but Willow wasn't enraged very often.

"Ah, gods. It seems in my world we are the gods. I wonder how you draw a distinction in your own? Tell me about your supernatural beings."

He was always willing to learn more, especially now he apparently had access to beings from worlds he was unfamiliar with. Life could get boring for a Spirit with no definite lifespan. Sin was a master at entertaining himself and sometimes gaining knowledge helped to do just that.

"It comes down to power and notoriety, I think," she answers speculatively. "Metaphysically, spirits and gods aren't all that different from one another. Gods you ask for help, spirits you coerce or force into."

She realizes who she's talking to and adds quickly, "Not that I do! I'm all for the asking. But there's definitely some disreputable practitioners out there. Oh, and gods usually have their own physical body, too." Willow nods to him in acknowledgment. "So I'm not surprised you're what counts where you're from."
