[For Teddy, the situation is... well, he's not sure what to think about it. He knows the Vision and Scarlet Witch on sight, of course, and an embarrassing large amount of the guests while he's at it. But the reason for the party is something he doesn't get at all, let alone... other things.

There's one person who stands out, though. One that Teddy notices instantly, and whom he walks over to with a concerned frown. Surely his idiot of a boyfriend didn't do something as stupid as going back in time or something, right? Normally he'd have laughed at that, but considering his friends, well... there is the possibility.]

...hey. [He tries to say it casually, with a smile, but he doesn't get any punch for himself. And he can't quite hide the concern, either.]

[He's lost in his own thoughts as he watches the events unfold without a hitch. He doesn't even realize Teddy's there until he hears that all too familiar voice.]

Teddy. [That's weird... usually that doesn't happen. He speaks again a few seconds later once he shrugs off the change in the dream.] Usually you aren't in this dream, let alone dreams like these.

...this is a dream? [He finds himself laughing in relief at that. A dream makes a lot more sense- even if it's weird that he'd be dreaming this. It's Billy's dream, right? So why is he in it? Or to put it another way, why would he be dreaming about Billy's childhood? That was all kinds of messed up.

Still, at least it means that everything's okay. He's not a lucid dreamer, but Teddy takes Billy's word for it. He's the mage, after all.]

Yeah, well, that's what it usually is. [He points out some all too familiar faces -- the Scarlet Witch with a little boy on her back.] That's me and my mom, and soon a bunch of people will be coming up to her, giving me presents as they talk about the good old days.

I have this dream a lot, so I know what happens by now. It never really changes, but sometimes the presents are different or the cake is a different flavor, so nothing much.

Oh... [Leave it to the mage to know when he's having a dream. It does mean something special to Teddy, though. In a weird way, anyway- he knows how important the Scarlet Witch is to Billy, so he nods. ...then frowns. Even being here for as little as he has, he's noticed one very odd thing.] ...but they give it to the dream you. Not... you. Right?

[For that matter, no one's calling attention to the strange blond either. Very odd, but if it's a dream, then that all makes sense.]

Yep, the dream me, who happens to be having the time of his life. No one in the dream notices I'm here most of the time. Sometimes I think my mom sees me, but I always wake up before she says anything to me. [He watches the guests, listening to a few of the conversations. He smiles at them; everyone seems so happy and together as friends here.] It's almost haunting to see this, but it makes me happy to see everyone was happy like this, y'know? No enemies attacking, no fighting, them just being themselves.

Wish we could get that kind of break. [He doesn't mean it disparagingly, but... well, the times where they get an actual uninterrupted day together seem to be few and far between. Granted, there's a reason for that, but... still. He watches with Billy, pondering what he says and finally letting a smile cross his own face. It really is peaceful.] I think... it's kind of a nice dream. That you get to remember her like this, I mean.

[So many other people suffer nightmares of their parents. Or don't know them at all. Teddy really is glad that Billy doesn't have to go through that- as far as dreams about parents go, this seems to be pretty good. Even if it is incredibly eerie that no one pays attention to them when they're right in the middle of it.]

If we got that kind of break, we would have normal relationship problems. Like for example, we'd fight over movie night or game night on Friday nights. [He attempts to lighten up the situation with some humor.] Or you know, more petty arguments like not spending enough time together. The whole being on the same superhero team allows us to be around each other a lot. [well, personal time is different, but still.]

Yeah, it's a nice dream, one of the better ones. [He has some really bad ones, but this one is as simple and happy as it gets.]

Oh yeah, like we'd fight over that. [He rolls his eyes good-naturedly. One thing that he's learned? He's a complete pushover when it comes to Billy. He's more than happy to watch whatever Billy wants, and it works, because Billy is awesome and their tastes match so well. Still, he taps his chin thoughtfully.] ...well, I suppose we'd still argue pirates vs ninja... [What? They're geeks, that's the quintessential argument!]

[Still, all joking aside... he goes to gently run his hand through Billy's hair, offering a tiny smile. Just a little sheepish, as well.] Yeah, it's pretty nice. ...you don't mind that I didn't bring anything, right? [Because he hasn't ever had the chance to celebrate his boyfriend's birthday, and... sappy and silly and stupid as it sounds? He's looking forward to it.]

Pirates versus ninjas is an important debate, just like Star Was versus Star Trek and some may debate Lord of the Rings versus Harry Potter, but they're clearly delusional. I'll admit Dumbledore is kind of awesome, but Gandalf is still the number one wizard to ever exist in fiction. [Don't get him started on these geeky, things, okay.]
You being here is good enough, and if you want, you could always make it up to me later in another dream or something. [He doesn't mean to sound corny, but his words are genuine. He lessens the personal space between them, putting a hand on Teddy's waist.] Hopefully my superhero parents won't be around in the next one.

[But Teddy can't help but get Billy started on them! Not only because it's something they can just goof around about and trade ridiculous factoids about, but because it's something they can do together. Besides... Billy's kind of cute when he's passionate about his side. So, with a teasing grin, Teddy speaks.] Well, if you're talking about being the better wizard, I don't know how you can argue it. Gandalf just sets pinecones on fire, Dumbledore actually does magic.]

[As he says that, though, he rests one hand on Billy's wrist, gently squeezing as he does so. It's a little corny, but he knows what it means. He leans in closer, grinning a little, before he speaks. And yes, there is a little bit of a blush on his face.] You're in a lot of my dreams. But I guess you don't get pulled into them. ...besides, I'd like to make it up to you when we're both awake.

I DID RESEARCH FOR THIS. BE PROUD. cataphasia July 14 2011, 19:54:33 UTC
Hey, Gandalf is a Maiar, and he took on Balrog. I'm envious Dumbledore has a Phoenix and sort of is the Professor X of Harry Potter, but Gandalf is one giant step above that all. [He knows his stuff, and he will fight until his death about this.]

You're in my dreams a lot too, and if you really want to. [That blush on Teddy's face causes a little blush on his own face.] I won't hold it against you if you wake up and forget this, though.

WOW YOU POLLED PLURK, THAT'S NOT RESEARCH teddyling July 16 2011, 20:41:42 UTC
Which makes him a great angel, but a pretty poor wizard. Dumbledore has better magic, so he's definitely the better wizard. [Oh yes, it's a time-honored approach among geeks- if you're losing the argument, change the terms on which that argument is being held. Not that he means any malice by it, of course, but he does like getting Billy going on magic and wizards and all of it.

But there's something else, too. He tilts his head, and he can't help but want to know now. What better segue could he ask for?] Well normally I'd suggest we do something I won't forget, but... I'm really in a lot of your dreams? [Pardon a hopeful look- it's silly, but hearing that does make his heart beat faster.] ...all nice ones, I hope?
