I read Beowulf again last night/this morning.  It was better than I remembered.  Usually the things I love that much are difficult to read, like Paradise Lost or even The Lord of the Rings, to a certain extent, especially because I love them for the language in particular.  But Beowulf was, pure and simple, a joy to read.  Although "joy" is not the correct word for the tone of the poem, but you know what I mean.  I remember why I'm doing medieval literature now.

Anyway, I was planning on going to see the movie tomorrow.  Now I'm scared to.  I've read the reviews (from medievalists) who say, almost unanimously, that it utterly sucks.  I've heard about the (horrific) changes made, how it completely fails to capture the tone.  Do I really want to spend my money on this?  Do I want to waste my time on it?  I'd be going by myself too, unless I miraculously found someone to come with me at the last minute (which I doubt).  But it's Beowulf.
