(no subject)
My parents and little brother left yesterday after their week-long visit. But I'm not posting about that. I'm posting, at 1AM before I set out for two weeks of travel, because I am annoyed. Beyond annoyed. On the verge of screaming in frustration.
First, it says nowhere, either on campus, in any sort of communication from the Dean of Students office, any sort of communication from the bus company, or on the bus company's website, how or if the bus schedule has been changed due to break. Two Fridays ago, I had a nasty time trying to get to the rail station to catch my train to London (I ended up walking and taking a later train), but that was Good Friday (which I still think is inexcusable). I'm still worried. I have to catch a train to Manchester Airport tomorrow morning, and I"m worried about missing it. Though I've given myself plenty of time (I think) before my flight for any mishaps, I'm not sure how often those trains run.
Second, I've been wanting to back up my pictures for a long time, so I had my mom bring me some blank CDs. However, my laptop is screwed up to the point that it doesn't recognize that you can (gasp) burn stuff onto the blank CDs. My dad and brother both looked at it and have no idea what the deal is.
Finally, my brother told me to instead put the photos on my MP3 player. So I tried. However, I have 5,000+ pictures to back up, and it took two hours just to get 40 uploaded. And then those all had errors. So I tried to cancel and close out the program, but I couldn't. Then I restarted the computer, but couldn't get my MP3 player to work. I had to take out the battery, and now all that's left on it are the last 5 disks of the Two Towers audiobook. What's more, I can't get my computer to recognize my MP3 player when I plug it back in to try to resync all my music. I'm ready to throw it all out the window. It's 1AM and I have to catch a 9:00 train tomorrow and I'm leaving for two weeks and I just want my MP3 player to work.
I also have to send an email to the registrar's office with a bunch of different schedules for next year, and I have to do it tonight yet. I really hate this new web-registration, and I haven't even had to go through it yet. Also, I emailed my academic advisor three weeks ago about registration, and she never got back to me, and I still have a hold on my account telling me to meet with her (and she never sent out her usual email telling her advisees to meet with her). So I don't know what to do about that.
Argh. It's good to get all that out. Now I'm off to go try (again) to fix some of these problems. As for good news, I've got my summer research application off, and I've sent emails to the faculty members that I'm interested in their projects. So now all I can do is cross my fingers...
