Graduation/baccalaureate practice was today. It was, of course, exceedingly frustrating. Just another reminder of how much I will miss high school! The head honcho on this graduation had never run a graduation, and the ushers had no guidance whatsoever. Last year’s seniors spent two hours practicing, we spent all day.
I feel that I have a right to bitch because we (ushers) busted our asses last year to make that graduation the best we could. It will all turn out all right. I will be happy just to see the end of it. Baccalaureate (tonight at seven, by the way) will be wholly run by the FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) this year, so it will be interesting to see how it goes.
Today, I also got to spend the last of my Accelerated Reader currency. After great deliberation, I finally chose to “buy” a copy of Harper Lee‘s To Kill a Mockingbird and Louis L’Amour’s Treasure Mountain instead of a Batman kite.
I watched Suicide Kings and Big Fish yesterday. I consider both to be excellent. Christopher Walken and Denis Leary were even better than expected, though it was a bit dark. Big Fish was mesmerizing.
