in an effort to shatter old and stupid new year's resolutions,
i submit a new list that is unlike my last several years' (the chronic whine of 'lose weight! run more!' and similar drivel):
1) self-educate. i intend to start researching and buying books to teach myself history, certain languages (sp. want to take another look at hebrew and russian), and reread my beloved but cliched shakespeare favorites. i want to thank the finely stocked bookcases of duncan, lizz and j. for this one.
2) write enough poetry to send off to a publisher. hell i don't care right now if its published or not, i just need to establish a volume of work. all i wrote last year was a GHOST STORY for my boys!! though it was a really awesome ghost story ;)
3) continue to do well in school. i have to admit, i keep getting a little intimidated, being that science and math are only something i have a strong interest in, not a natural talent.
4) complete at least one painting or something similar. i am so obsessively perfectionistic about paintings that i rarely finish anything, so just one is good for a year.
5) determine to NOT make next year's new year's toast the same as this year's toast: FUCK YOU 2006. i want to be proud of 2007, not feel like a blind and blundering idiot.
6) and FUCK YOU romance, boys and girls, i'm not even going to think about you. AMEN.
