Top QB's 2007

I know it’s early but I thought I would start posting my lists. I know posting a list of the players I think will do well at all positions may not be to smart since my draft is in a few weeks but who cares if the guys saw this list and took a guy I was high on it doesn’t bother me, I’ll just take the next guy on the list. I went with your basic scoring rules. TD heavy with some yardage bonus points. On to the QB’s.

The first two are no brainers in any league in my opinion. They also mark the first drop off. Peyton is as close to a sure thing as you can get in Fantasy Football. He rarely misses a game, his INT’s are way down and the colts love to pass in the red zone. No QB in the NFL reads a defense like Peyton. Carson Palmer is right up there with Manning, he proved last year that his knee would not get in the way and for the most part it didn’t. I think he will be better this year and if all goes according to plan he should be the number 1 QB in 2008.

Drew Brees, Tom Brady, and Marc Bulger make up the next group. Brees had a fantastic year in his first in New Orleans and I don’t see the offense slowing down one bit. He should easily duplicate last years totals. Brady is probably the most consistent QB in the NFL. This year he has an unbelievable WR corps and could easily finish with the 2nd or 3rd most points among QB’s. The St. Louis offense has been great for a while now but Scott Linehan has really taken it to another level. The only knock on St. Louis is their
bad O-line.

Donovan McNabb was killing last year before the injury and he will probably kill again. I think Andy Reid might be the best coach in the NFL. You just have to worry about his durability. If you draft McNabb I would make sure to have a reliable backup. I might have Rivers too high but when defenses are stacking the line to stop LT and Gates is matched up against LB he can beat down field I’ll take my chances. Vince Young is the most exciting QB in the NFL. He can pass unlike Vick and he can run just like him. I think this guy will be a star but he may have some growing pains this season especially with no real talent to throw to. Eli Manning is just not consistent enough for me. He tries to make things happen when they are not there and he just has some down games. He is getting better and this is a big year for him to prove he is as good as everyone said he would be.

Those are the big three groups. If you get a player in those 3 groups I think you are set for the season. The next cutoff in my opinion is Leinart, then Alex Smith, and lastly Jason Campbell.

In the other groupings I like Kitna and Cutler. I was pretty high on Vick, I thought this was the year he could do some damage fantasy wise but with his legal troubles I would probably drop him down the list. I think Leinart and Smith could do some damage this year as their teams improve. I think Brett Favre will have a good season but probably a lot of INT’s. I think Losman could be a huge sleeper as he and Lee Evans are dangerous, the progression of Marshawn Lynch will be huge in Buffalo. Hasselbeck, Romo, Delhomme, Roethlisberger, McNair, and Pennington are all too risky for me. I think they can all have decent to good seasons but I’m on the fence with those guys, I would prefer them as backups.
