Ali always did love playing hostess, although she could have provided a dozen lists of more charming guests than the Admiralty and their lackeys. Still, it was an interesting challenge to toe the line of rules and regulations and the various needs of vastly different species while still arranging a dinner of which she could be proud, as well as all the other little details that would help the visit go more smoothly ( ... )

*Samus doesn't respond for a moment, stretching the time out, letting their prisoner see that whatever leash he imagines might restrain her for his protection is a tenuous tie at best. At last, she turns to Ali with a smile, every inch the Hunter.*

*She turns, accompanying Ali and, once out of sight of their captive, letting slip a chuckle and an observation.*

"People are always more agreeable when they're happy," she points out, taking Samus' arm while they're alone in the hall. "And people are always happier when they're full of delicious things. Besides, it might put people in the mood to show me equal thoughtfulness. If nothing else, it'll make the whole thing more tolerable for us, right? It's all just another kind of warfare, and I'm quite distraught you haven't learned that yet."

I didn't say I hadn't learned. Only that you're the only one who would actually do it.

*Her hand moves to cover Ali's, not letting go until they've almost reached their destination. Not all of the Grand Admirals are in attendance, but three are certainly enough for the time being, along with a half-dozen officers whose positions make them key stewards of strategy within the fleet. They look to Ali and Samus to open the meeting.*
