I do not envy you. Sounds like you'll be taking books to local restaurant freezers? A slaughter house? I am really curious what you'll end up doing with the soaked books.
Wow, those are great! Thank you. I'll let you know what we do. In my experience, there isn't a very good fix for soaked books, and most of these are not particularly valuable or rare. I guess it will probably depend on the percentage which are damaged, if we try to salvage them or not.
Yep, the river crested yesterday and now it will start receding. My side of town has not seen flooding but the library is submerged to the roof. It's going to be a big mess which will take a lot of time and money to clean up. I don't think anyone at all has died, though--and messes can be cleaned up.
