I have a recurring dream in which I see a John Lee Hooker tape at a junk sale, and think, "Oh, I don't need that. I already have one." and I don't buy it. This is only worth noting because the tape in question I actually do own. It sits about a foot from my head as I sleep.
Yesterday I experienced several non-visual hallucinations. I stepped on a screw, and it felt like I was kicking a shoe. I could feel the impact on my toes even after I knew the truth of the matter. And I heard, very clearly, a footstep on hardwood right next to me while I was taking a shower. These are only the ones yesterday. In the past five or six months, these have been happening with a fair regularity. Mostly hearing things that aren't there. Often I will hear what sounds like an orchestra playing for a second and then fading out. Usually brass is very prevelent. This was the first tactile one.
I attribute this to one of several things.
#1: I am going blind but my other senses are heightening immensely, like Daredevil.
#2: Reality is falling apart around me. I think it would be really cool to be living in an increasingly different world from everybody else, but be aware of it. Not like, 'can't you hear that?' but 'I know I'm the only one that can hear that.' I hope that in about five hears, it will be so much that I can hear the whole symphony, instead of just a snippet.
#3: Late onset synesthesia is taking a very bizarre form.
I don't know whether I should be excited or distressed by this.
I have also noticed a grand cricket migration in my room. I see them crawling around all the time, and today I found a cricket's head in my sock during English class.
Also this year I noticed I have found less cicada shells than usual and more dead cicadas. I wonder what this means? Do they know something we don't?
My new icon, by the way is a fellow named, ironically, Mr. PoPo.
