The theme of the week is "do it yourself," and I'm amazed at the productivity of our grand human race. Yeah, we make bad things like bombs and Alan Jackson, but there's a whole world out there full of people doing their jobs and making things happen. I inherited a crafty gene from one grandmother, kitchen style from the other, book geekery from my mother, and an ability to swear creatively from my dad. So far this weekend I've used all of that and a bag of chips, and I'm just getting started. And there have been a lot of really nice people out there helping me, giving me advice, and in general not treating me like a kid or an idiot, which I appreciate.

What this means for all those reading (or hopefully all those reading, no creepy strangers allowed) is that a party is cometh in the foreseeable future, as soon as all the hazardous-to-your-health aspects of my improvements to my new place have been completed. I have no idea when that will be, but if I can keep up this rate of enthusiasm and maybe enlist a few willing hands at the more labor-intensive parts, we're in business in a couple weeks.

I like new stuff. I like new people. I like the creation high. Really, sometimes, life's not so bad.
