Erin, you forget - curtailing people's rights and justifying it with "it's better to be safe than sorry", keeping hundreds of detainees without ever charging them with a crime (AND preventing access to a lawyer), lying and leading us into an unnecessary war, choking on pretzels - these are all necessary parts of keeping us safe and secure. And look how safe and secure we are - we have found no WMDs in Iraq in about 1.5 years of looking, we have kept Osama bin Laden in power, and we have destroyed our standing in the world, causing everyone to hate us and want to kill us even more. Even Germany hates us, for godssakes.

Yes, sir, I don't think we've ever been as safe as we are now.
