it's more difficult than you'd think
Picking the right perspective for a story is difficult. I really, really want to get it right the first time, so I don't have to do a huge rewrite (not to mention that a 3rd person story may end up in an entirely different place than a 1st person story) but half the time, I'm not sure what I'm writing until I get to the end.
